Abstract

One of the great problems of cities in the world is the accumulation of solid waste or "garbage" as it is commonly called, and that becomes a public health problem due to the environmental pollution it produces as well as the diseases related to rodents. and vectors that live around it. This inconvenience has led to the search for alternative solutions such as adequate comprehensive management to minimize their quantities, seek their reuse through recycling and compost, as well as being transferred to their final confinement in sanitary landfills. One of these innovative alternatives is the use of the periplaneta americana insect, which is characterized by a voracious appetite for organic matter and in a state of decomposition, which would solve one of the great problems that large cities face today for the environmental pollution they produce; But in addition to this, there are studies that this insect has nutritional, medicinal and aesthetic benefits for the benefit of humanity; However, there is also information that indicates that it could be a carrier of bacteria responsible for diseases transmitted to humans.
